In a significant move to tackle corruption within Punjab Police, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced plans to hold a 'special court martial' for corrupt police officials. This decision was made during a high-level meeting in Murree chaired by CM Maryam, where the focus was on reviewing the law and order situation in the province.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) provided a detailed briefing on the overall law and order scenario, leading to the decision to establish a special unit and provide IT training to staff to combat organized and cyber crimes effectively.

Furthermore, measures were discussed to safeguard the lives and property of citizens, including the enforcement of a special audit system to identify and address corruption and unprofessional conduct within the police force.

Those found colluding with criminal elements will face 'special court martial' proceedings, with a dedicated complaint mechanism through the CM's dashboard for reporting bribery incidents.

Additional initiatives include the establishment of a border security force to curb smuggling, the formation of a specialized police force to tackle all forms of crime, and a stringent campaign against narcotics.

Legislation is also being considered to impose the death penalty on individuals involved in the molestation of women and children, along with amendments to laws to combat illegal weapons and kite-flying activities.

CM Maryam emphasized the importance of stern punishment for criminals to reduce crime rates and reiterated the government's commitment to providing advanced weaponry, equipment, and technology to law enforcement agencies.

The chief minister directed for a comprehensive crackdown on terrorism, smuggling, and criminal gangs, highlighting the need for a more efficient prosecution and investigation system.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Senior Minister, Chief Secretary, Secretary Home, IG Police, and other key officers, reflecting a unified effort to enhance security and combat corruption in Punjab.
