Deputy Commissioner Aurangzeb Haider Khan leads crackdown on overloaded vehicles

Deputy Commissioner Capt Retired Aurangzeb Haider Khan recently chaired a crucial meeting in Sargodha to tackle the problem of overloaded vehicles in the region. The meeting, which saw the participation of key officials and stakeholders, primarily focused on ensuring strict adherence to load axle regulations.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of fully implementing load axle rules and issued a stern warning to potential violators, including both transporters and drivers. He directed the relevant authorities to set up a specialized team to monitor heavy vehicles continuously.

Owners of vehicles caught carrying excessive loads, as well as cargo transporters surpassing axle weight limits, will face severe consequences. Penalties will be enforced, and vehicles could be confiscated for non-compliance.

Highlighting the adverse effects of overloaded vehicles on national highways, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the role they play in escalating accidents and causing damage to infrastructure. To combat this issue, he proposed the installation of signboards to educate the public about axle load restrictions.
