Deputy Commissioner in Hyderabad leads a meeting to tackle water pollution caused by industries, emphasizing urgent action and strict measures against polluters.
On Tuesday, a significant meeting was convened in Hyderabad under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner, following the directives of the Chief Secretary of Sindh. The primary focus of the meeting was to address the issue of water pollution caused by industries, factories, and other sources in the region's canals.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the urgent need for the Irrigation Department and WASA officials to identify the sources emitting toxic water into the canals. They were instructed to promptly submit a detailed report on the matter and ensure the installation of treatment plants in affected industries and factories. Strict measures were also mandated against those found responsible for polluting the water bodies.
In response to complaints regarding contaminated water, the concerned authorities were directed to take immediate corrective actions. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of WASA and other relevant institutions fulfilling their responsibilities diligently, warning of severe consequences for any negligence.
The meeting was attended by engineers from WASA and the Irrigation Department, along with other pertinent officers, underscoring the collective commitment to addressing the pressing issue of water pollution in the region.
