Dr. Prem S. Meghwar's lecture at Sindh Madressatul Islam University emphasized the dual purpose of business, focusing on profit and social impact. He highlighted the importance of social responsibility and the enduring success of businesses committed to creating value for all stakeholders.

Dr. Prem S. Meghwar, a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Virginia, recently delivered a thought-provoking lecture at Sindh Madressatul Islam University. The lecture titled 'The Role of Business Schools in Shaping Society' emphasized the dual purpose of business - to make money and to solve social issues.

Dr. Meghwar highlighted the importance of creating value for all stakeholders, not just investors. He stressed that while money is essential, it should not be the sole focus of business endeavors. The positive impact of business on society was underscored, citing advancements such as increased life expectancy, access to clean water, healthcare, and technology.

However, Dr. Meghwar also addressed the negative aspects of business, referencing tragic incidents like the chemical industry fire in Pakistan and the Rana Plaza disasters in Bangladesh. He debunked the myth that empowering the less privileged through education and entrepreneurship would threaten established powers, citing examples of wealthy royal families in developed countries.

Encouraging students of the Department of Business Administration, Dr. Meghwar emphasized the importance of conducting business with a strong sense of social responsibility. He highlighted the enduring success of businesses like Bombay Bakery in Hyderabad, attributing it to a commitment to product quality.

The event was well-attended by faculty and students, with Dr. Zahid Ali Channar delivering the welcome address, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khuhro offering concluding remarks, and Muhammad Naeem Ahmed expressing gratitude.
