The Provincial Education Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Khan Tarakai, has unveiled a series of groundbreaking initiatives aimed at boosting female literacy and educational opportunities for women in the region, with a particular focus on the merged areas. These programs are designed to address the pressing issues of limited access to education and high dropout rates, especially among girls.

One of the primary strategies being implemented is the establishment of community-based education centers under the supervision of the Merged Districts Education Foundation. Initiatives such as the Sabaon Schools and Middle School Program are being rolled out to swiftly establish schools and cater to the immediate educational needs of the community.

Currently, the Foundation manages 207 community-based education centers, catering to 17,625 students. Plans are underway to establish 25 schools in merged districts and tribal regions through collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors, offering incentives to both students and teachers.

With a total enrollment of 27,639 students across 337 community-based schools and a team of 639 qualified teachers, the Foundation is scaling up its endeavors. An additional 25 Middle Community-Based Schools will be set up in merged districts and tribal sub-divisions, providing students with stipends and teachers with training.

As part of the new scheme, students in Grade I to V will receive a stipend of Rs1000, while those in Grade VI to VIII will receive Rs1500. Furthermore, 1538 teachers and 80 master trainers will undergo specialized training to enhance the quality of education imparted.

Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai has lauded the commendable work of the Foundation and has pledged to address various issues, including those concerning the board of directors, the Foundation Act, and employee grievances, in forthcoming meetings.

The initiatives introduced by the Provincial Education Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa signify a significant step towards empowering women through enhanced educational opportunities. By focusing on improving female literacy rates and addressing the challenges faced by girls in accessing education, these programs are paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for the region. Through collaborative efforts and innovative strategies, the Foundation is making strides in bridging the educational gap and fostering a more equitable society.
