Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur initiates a Rs 29 billion wheat procurement program, emphasizing transparency, prompt payments, and zero tolerance for corruption to support local farmers and ensure an efficient process.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, alongside Provincial Food Minister Zahir Shah Toru, has kickstarted a significant wheat procurement initiative in the province. The initiative, valued at Rs 29 billion, is set to acquire 600,000 metric tons of wheat, with half of the quantity being sourced directly from local farmers. In Dera Ismail Khan, a substantial 40,000 metric tons will be procured, supplementing the current stock of 10,500 metric tons.

During the launch event, Chief Minister Gandapur stressed the importance of promptly compensating farmers within 24 hours, showcasing the government's unwavering dedication to their well-being. He also emphasized the core principles of transparency and quality assurance in the procurement process, resulting in a substantial cost saving of Rs 12 billion by opting not to procure from PASSCO.

Gandapur commended the team for their efforts in ensuring a seamless procurement operation and declared a strict zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and bribery. He urged both the public and officials to steer clear of any corrupt activities, highlighting the implementation of modern systems to bolster transparency.

Provincial Food Minister Zahir Shah Toru echoed the Chief Minister's sentiments, promising to maintain transparency in all food-related affairs and vowing to take stringent action against any violations.

The wheat procurement initiative spearheaded by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa marks a significant step towards supporting local farmers and ensuring a transparent and efficient procurement process.
