Governor Tessori Orders Arrest in Camel Cruelty Case

On June 15, 2024, Sanghar police took action by registering a case against unidentified individuals at the Mangli police station in connection with a disturbing incident involving a camel in the Mandh Jamrao area of Sanghar.

Reports indicate that an angry landlord, upset over a camel straying onto his agricultural land, along with his employees, captured the animal and cruelly amputated its leg, causing severe injury. The camel's owner, Somar Bhan, brought the severed leg to the Sanghar Press Club to protest, accusing the landlord of the brutal act.

Upon learning of the incident, Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori intervened, ordering the immediate arrest of the actual culprits responsible for the heinous act. Additionally, Governor Tessori pledged to provide two camels to the affected owner as compensation.

Despite public outcry and media attention, Sanghar police faced criticism for registering a case against unknown individuals instead of holding the influential landlord accountable for the inhumane treatment of the camel. Prior to the police action, videos circulating on social media depicted the injured camel with a deep wound on its leg, shedding light on the severity of the situation.

This incident highlights the importance of animal welfare and the need for swift justice in cases of animal cruelty. It is crucial for authorities to take decisive action against perpetrators to prevent such acts in the future and ensure the protection of animals in our society.
