Residents of Sojhanda village in Attock district have raised concerns over illegal excavation activities along the River Indus, suspecting a search for gold. The villagers, led by Umar, Amin, Dilawar, Haroon, and others, have reported that a group of influential individuals has deployed 18 excavators to extract gold particles worth millions of rupees. Despite notifying relevant authorities, including the district administration, police, and the Assistant Director of Mines and Minerals, no action has been taken, prompting the villagers to seek intervention from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

In a separate incident, Punjab Highways and Patrolling Police Check Post Mithai, under the directives of SSP Patrolling, cracked down on traffic violations. Sub Inspector Fakhar Abbas disclosed that, following special instructions, stolen vehicles were recovered, wanted individuals were apprehended, and fines were imposed on 887 drivers for traffic offenses. Additionally, FIRs were lodged against six drivers for using defective CNG cylinders in their vehicles.

Tragedy struck near Chura Sharif when a motorcycle collided with a trolley, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and severe injuries to another. The victims, including two teenage brothers, their sister, and her two young children, were involved in the accident due to overspeeding of the motorcycle and the absence of reflectors on the trolley. The incident highlights the pressing need for improved road safety measures in the region, as tractor trollies without proper lighting equipment continue to pose risks to road users.

Efforts by authorities to address these issues are crucial to prevent further tragedies and ensure the safety of residents in Attock district.
