Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM directs proactive measures for upcoming rains

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur has issued directives to district administrations and relevant departments to stay vigilant ahead of an upcoming spell of rains in the province. The aim is to proactively make arrangements to minimize potential damage caused by the rains. Gandapur emphasized the strict implementation of instructions from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and stressed the importance of having staff from district administration and local bodies in the field to monitor river levels for possible flooding.

The PDMA has issued an alert regarding anticipated rains and snowfall in various parts of the province, starting today and continuing until Tuesday. In a somber note, the Chief Minister expressed condolences for the recent lightning-related deaths in Mansehra, where three individuals lost their lives, including two brothers, due to a lightning strike while herding cattle in the forests of Kundaw Kari in Oghi tehsil.

Following the tragic incident, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and assured them of the provincial government's full support. The victims were promptly transported to a hospital in Oghi by Rescue 1122 teams. The community was deeply affected by the sudden lightning strike, which also resulted in the loss of numerous cattle.

The recent lightning incident in Mansehra serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather-related disasters.
