The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority conducted raids seizing substandard food items like fake beverages and expired ice cream, emphasizing consumer protection and adherence to food safety regulations.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority recently conducted raids in Swat and Nowshera, seizing large quantities of substandard soft drinks and expired ice cream. During a raid in Matta Bazar Swat, over 7000 litres of substandard and fake beverages were confiscated, leading to the sealing of a godown and initiation of legal action against the business owner under the Food Safety Act.

In Nowshera and Jehangeera Bazar, teams of food authorities inspected various establishments, resulting in the closure of a bakery in Jehangeera due to unhygienic conditions. Additionally, two ice cream manufacturing units were sealed for using expired food color and incorrectly labeled products.

Director General of the Food Authority, Wasif Saeed, commended the raiding teams for their efforts and emphasized the ongoing commitment to combat the sale of counterfeit and substandard food items in the province.

The crackdown on substandard food products by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority underscores the importance of ensuring the quality and safety of consumables available to the public. By taking decisive action against violators of food safety regulations, the authority aims to protect consumers from potential health risks associated with the consumption of fake or expired food items.
