PDP President Mehbooba Mufti criticizes the oppressive measures in IIOJ&K, advocating for Kashmiri rights and highlighting detrimental decisions affecting the region.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has strongly criticized the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), stating that the region has been turned into an open-air prison since the controversial abrogation of Article 370 by the BJP government on August 5, 2019.

Mufti, while addressing a press conference in Srinagar, highlighted the continuous assault on the Kashmiri people's identity, land, jobs, and resources since the revocation of Article 370. She emphasized that the oppressive measures imposed by the authorities have severely restricted the freedoms of the residents.

The PDP president, who is running for office in south Kashmir’s Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, vowed to advocate for the rights of Kashmiris in the Indian Parliament. She expressed concern over the attempts to silence dissenting voices and stressed the importance of speaking out against injustices.

Mufti pointed out various detrimental decisions made by the central government, including changes to state subjects and land laws, outsourcing of resources to non-locals, and unfair dismissals of government employees. She also raised issues related to the criminalization of passports, corruption in recruitment processes, and the negative impact on sectors like horticulture due to unfavorable trade policies.

The ongoing challenges faced by the people of IIOJ&K have sparked widespread criticism and calls for action to address the human rights violations and economic hardships inflicted on the region. Mehbooba Mufti's vocal stance against the oppressive measures reflects a growing demand for justice and accountability in the conflict-ridden territory.
