Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discusses collaboration with UK universities to enhance education in Pakistan, focusing on teacher training and bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with a delegation of representatives from leading UK universities at the PM House in Islamabad. During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed the government's commitment to enhancing higher education and improving the quality of education in Pakistan through collaboration with the United Kingdom.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of quality education as a top priority for the government, emphasizing the need to ensure access to education for every child. He mentioned the establishment of the Education Endowment Fund during his tenure as Punjab chief minister and announced a similar initiative at the federal level to further support education development.

The Prime Minister praised the UK's support for Pakistan's education sector and expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in education and trade. He welcomed the launch of degree programs between universities in Pakistan and the UK, emphasizing the role of modern education, particularly in science and technology, in national development.

The delegation, led by UK's International Education Champion Sir Steve Smith, expressed interest in collaborating with Pakistani universities, offering assistance in teacher training and capacity building. They also informed the Prime Minister about the extension of the Education Gateway Pakistan to enhance bilateral cooperation in the education sector.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, MNA Romina Khursheed Alam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, British Council Country Director James Hampson, and other high officials.
