Federal Minister for Education Maqbool Siddiqui unveils a groundbreaking initiative to enhance literacy rates, addressing transportation challenges and teacher shortages. The program includes the Pink Bus Project and the extension of the Apostille Ordinance 2024.

The Federal Minister for Education, Maqbool Siddiqui, unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to enhance the literacy rate in the country during a recent session at the National Assembly. The program aims to address key concerns such as the conversion of school buses into the Pink Bus Project and the shortage of teachers in Islamabad Capital Territory. Minister Siddiqui emphasized the importance of active participation from elected officials and the community to elevate the standards of education across the nation.

As part of the government's urgent education agenda, strategies are being developed to enroll out-of-school children in educational institutions. To tackle transportation challenges, the Ministry of Education is set to introduce 20 buses specifically for girl students and female teachers in both urban and rural areas. These buses will operate five times a day to ensure convenient access for students, teachers, and working women.

Currently, out of the 385 buses allocated to schools and colleges in Islamabad, 75 are not in use. The Ministry is actively working on repairing 20 buses to facilitate transportation for students and teachers. These additional buses will complement the existing pink bus initiative, guaranteeing sufficient transportation services for students and teachers in the capital.

Moreover, the National Assembly has granted an extension of the Apostille Ordinance 2024 for an additional 120 days to streamline legal processes and enhance efficiency.

The new education program spearheaded by Minister Siddiqui signifies a significant step towards improving literacy rates and educational access in the country. By addressing critical issues such as transportation and teacher shortages, the government is demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of education for all citizens. The extension of the Apostille Ordinance further highlights efforts to simplify legal procedures, ultimately contributing to a more efficient and accessible legal system.
