The Islamabad High Court addresses a petition by MNA Rai Haider Ali seeking removal from the PNIL, questioning transparency and legality.

The Islamabad High Court has taken action on a petition filed by MNA Rai Haider Ali, who is seeking the removal of his name from the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL). The court issued notices to the Interior Secretary and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) following a hearing presided over by IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq.

During the hearing, Justice Amir Farooq expressed concern over the inclusion of individuals' names in such lists, questioning the legality and process behind it. The petitioner, an elected MNA from Faisalabad, was reportedly prevented from traveling abroad after discovering his name on the PNIL.

The court directed the Deputy and Assistant Attorney General to provide assistance and investigate the matter further. Justice Farooq emphasized the need to review the remaining names on the list and instructed against arbitrary actions such as confiscating passports or placing individuals on stop lists.

The IHC CJ set a deadline of April 25 for the concerned authorities to submit a report on the issue. The court adjourned the hearing until the specified date, awaiting responses from the respondents.

This development highlights the ongoing legal challenges faced by individuals whose names are included in the PNIL, raising questions about the transparency and accountability of such lists.
