The Peshawar High Court's recent rulings impact security and legal cases involving prominent political figures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, addressing issues such as security detail removal, inclusion in PNIL, and bail extensions in illegal recruitment cases.
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) recently made significant rulings on security matters and legal cases involving prominent political figures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. A divisional bench, consisting of Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Syed Arshad Ali, directed the provincial government to respond to a plea by former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan regarding the removal of security detail. The court debated the necessity of providing extensive security, with Justice Ijaz Anwar emphasizing the importance of balancing security needs with fiscal responsibility.
Furthermore, the PHC issued notices to both federal and provincial governments to address the inclusion of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) backed Member National Assembly Ali Khan Jadoon in the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL). Legal proceedings also saw the extension of bail for four PTI lawmakers, including former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, in a case related to illegal recruitment.
During the court session, former Minister Shahram Tarakai called for the dismissal of fabricated cases against PTI workers and urged action against corruption perpetrators. These developments underscore the ongoing legal and security challenges faced by political figures in the region.
