The district administration in Rawalpindi takes strict action against tandoors amidst a strike by nanbais protesting government pricing regulations for naan and roti. President Ajmal Baloch criticizes the government's approach, highlighting the challenges faced by small businesses and consumers.

The district administration of Rawalpindi took strict action on Thursday by sealing numerous tandoors and confiscating their equipment due to a strike organized by nanbais against the government's pricing regulations for naan and roti. This move came after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reduced the prices of these staple foods in the province, leading to a clash between the nanbais and the provincial authorities.

Following the announcement of a shutter-down strike by the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran, tandoors in various areas such as Taxila, Gujjar Khan, Jatli, and Kallar Syedan remained closed, prompting consumers to turn to bakeries for their bread needs. In response, the Rawalpindi district administration swiftly intervened, seizing multiple tandoors and initiating legal action against their owners.

President of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran, Ajmal Baloch, demanded the release of arrested nanbais and criticized the government's approach, stating that disrupting one group's livelihood to benefit another was unjust. Baloch argued that using force to control prices would not effectively alleviate the public's financial burdens. He highlighted the disparity between the cost of flour and the selling price of naan, emphasizing that the recent price hike was a direct result of the surge in flour prices.

In light of these developments, the situation remains tense as both the authorities and the nanbais stand firm on their positions. The ongoing conflict underscores the challenges faced by small businesses and consumers amidst economic fluctuations, raising concerns about the sustainability of such pricing policies in the long run.
