Punjab witnesses a surge in road accidents, with 1,201 incidents in 24 hours, emphasizing the need for improved safety measures and strict traffic law enforcement to prevent further tragedies.

Over the past 24 hours, Punjab has witnessed a concerning rise in road accidents, with a total of 1,201 incidents resulting in five tragic fatalities and 1,271 injuries. Among the injured, 538 individuals sustained severe injuries and required hospitalization, while 733 received treatment at the accident scenes.

An analysis of the data revealed that the victims belonged to various categories, including 717 drivers, 53 underage drivers, 157 pedestrians, and 402 passengers. The city of Lahore reported the highest number of accidents, with 274 cases affecting 301 individuals. Faisalabad and Multan followed with 89 and 75 accidents respectively.

The vehicles involved in these accidents ranged from motorcycles and auto-rickshaws to vans, buses, trucks, and other vehicles, including slow-moving carts. A total of 1,091 motorcycles, 68 auto-rickshaws, 131 motorcars, 29 vans, five buses, 24 trucks, and 132 other vehicles were involved in the reported incidents.

The alarming increase in road accidents in Punjab highlights the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations. It is crucial for all road users to prioritize safety and adhere to traffic laws to prevent further tragedies on the roads.
