A tragic incident in Lahore involving a speeding car collision resulting in the deaths of six family members. Legal proceedings highlight the importance of road safety measures and seek justice for the victims.

In a tragic incident that shook Lahore in November 2023, a speeding car collision in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area resulted in the deaths of six members of the same family. The accused, Afnan Shafqat, faced the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Lahore as his judicial remand was extended by the court.

The incident involved a car driven by Afnan colliding with the family's vehicle, leading to the deaths of 45-year-old Rukhsana Bibi, her 25-year-old son Hasnain, 23-year-old daughter-in-law Ayesha, 30-year-old son-in-law Sajjad, four-month-old grandson Huzaifa, and four-year-old granddaughter Anaya. Eyewitnesses described the collision as horrific, causing severe damage to both vehicles.

The police, acting on a complaint filed by the head of the deceased family, Rafaqat Ali, arrested Afnan Shafqat at the scene. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Afnan, including charges of murder and terrorism. The court proceedings saw Afnan's father, Shafqat Awan, also appearing before the ATC.

The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the consequences of reckless driving and the importance of road safety measures. The legal proceedings against Afnan Shafqat continue as the court seeks justice for the victims and their grieving family.
