The Eid al-Fitr celebration in Maryland highlighted the struggles in Gaza and Kashmir, emphasizing unity and support for self-determination, with calls for peace and international solidarity.

Eidul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha are significant holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of fasting during the month of Ramadan. In the United States, Eid al-Fitr was observed on April 10, 2024, with the Kashmir American Welfare Association hosting an Eid Milan party at the Islamic Center of Potomac, Maryland. The event, attended by over 600 community members, highlighted the plight of those in Gaza and occupied Kashmir who were unable to celebrate due to ongoing conflicts.

The celebration included special prayers for the victims in Gaza and Kashmir, with speakers emphasizing the need for unity and support for those seeking self-determination. Ambassador Masood Khan commended the efforts of the organizers and stressed the importance of advocating for peace in these regions. Children received Eid gifts, symbolizing hope and tradition amidst challenging circumstances.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed region, not an internal matter of India. The APHC called for upholding UN resolutions and pressuring India to respect the right to self-determination in Kashmir.

In conclusion, the Eid Milan party served as a platform to raise awareness about the ongoing struggles in Gaza and Kashmir, emphasizing the need for international support and solidarity in resolving these conflicts and ensuring peace in the region.
