Hyderabad hosts a crucial meeting to address malnutrition crisis in Tharparkar, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts among government institutions and initiatives to combat the issue effectively.

Hyderabad recently hosted a crucial gathering of the District Coordination Committee for Nutrition, spearheaded by Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Tharparkar, Asif Ali Khaskheli. The primary focus of the meeting was to combat the prevalent issue of malnutrition in the region. Khaskheli shed light on the various government and non-government initiatives already in place to tackle malnutrition in Tharparkar. However, he highlighted a significant challenge - the lack of coordination among these initiatives, which hampers their effectiveness in reaching the community. Stressing the need for a unified approach, Khaskheli urged different departments to play their part effectively in addressing the malnutrition crisis. He emphasized the importance of launching a comprehensive campaign to reduce malnutrition levels significantly and enhance public awareness. One of the proposed strategies included organizing awareness seminars at different administrative levels to educate the community about the issue.

During the meeting, Khaskheli directed officials to present their departmental plans in the next session to foster a collaborative effort in combating malnutrition and ensuring a broader impact. Khawand Bux Siyal, the Divisional Coordination Officer Task Force for Malnutrition, shared insights into a program initiated by the planning and development department specifically designed to combat malnutrition. This program involves six government institutions, each assigned with distinct tasks aimed at effectively addressing the malnutrition challenge.

The gathering also witnessed the participation of key figures such as District Health Officer Dr. Laikhraj Sarangani, ADC-II Tharparkar Muhammad Osman Khaskheli, and officers from relevant departments who provided updates on their efforts in combating malnutrition.

The District Coordination Committee meeting in Hyderabad highlighted the pressing issue of malnutrition in Tharparkar and emphasized the urgent need for a coordinated approach to address this challenge effectively. With a collective effort from various departments and initiatives, there is hope for a significant reduction in malnutrition rates and increased public awareness in the region.
