The disruption of the Ayub Medical Teaching Institution's board meeting by management intervention highlights transparency concerns and the importance of upholding proper procedures for decision-making and accountability in healthcare governance.

The official meeting of the Ayub Medical Teaching Institution's board, which was scheduled for Monday, faced disruption as the management, allegedly involving a former BoG chairman, intervened. The meeting, initiated by three board members under the leadership of senior lawyer Asad Khan Jadoon, aimed to address pressing issues, notably suspected unlawful purchases amounting to Rs930 million. However, the meeting came to an abrupt halt when the AMTI Security In-charge, acting on the hospital director's orders, locked the BoG office and prevented the secretary from entering.

BoG Secretary Hamid Khan filed a complaint with the Board, disclosing that he was denied access to the office by the hospital's security officer following the director's instructions. The Security In-charge, Major (retd) Zukfiqar, affirmed his compliance with the director's directives to secure the office. Former BoG chairman Mushtaq Jadoon justified the delay in the emergency meeting, despite his resignation announcement. The BoG secretary had previously informed all relevant parties that three board members had requisitioned a special meeting at the AMC Conference Hall on Monday at 2 pm.

The disruption of the Ayub Medical Teaching Institution's board meeting raises concerns about transparency and governance within the institution. Such incidents highlight the importance of upholding proper procedures and ensuring accountability in decision-making processes. It is imperative for all stakeholders to prioritize the institution's integrity and work towards resolving internal conflicts to maintain the institution's reputation and commitment to quality healthcare.
