The Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) leads the CASA-1000 project, facing political challenges but aiming to boost Afghanistan's economy and energy self-sufficiency through regional energy cooperation.

The Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has embarked on a significant endeavor to survey the CASA-1000 power transmission route in Kunduz and Baghlan provinces. This project aims to transmit 1,000 megawatts of electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan through Afghanistan, fostering regional energy cooperation.

Despite progress in other involved countries, political changes in Afghanistan halted the project in August 2021, causing delays in its implementation. The CEO of DABS has personally overseen the project in Baghlan and Kunduz, engaging in discussions with local officials to ensure its successful execution.

Valued at $1.2 billion, with Afghanistan's section costing $260 million, the project awaits a crucial $100 million payment from the World Bank. The former head of Breshna company highlights the project's political and regional benefits, projecting potential annual transit fees of $45 to $50 million for Afghanistan.

The implementation of CASA-1000 is poised to generate employment opportunities, foster economic confidence in the region, establish industrial zones, and propel Afghanistan towards energy self-sufficiency. Economic experts anticipate a positive impact on Afghanistan's economy, with the Central Bank announcing plans to invest $40 million in infrastructure projects along the CASA-1000 line.

The CASA-1000 project represents a crucial step towards enhancing Afghanistan's energy infrastructure and economic development. By facilitating the transmission of electricity across borders, this initiative not only promises economic growth but also strengthens regional ties. As Afghanistan progresses towards energy self-reliance, the benefits of the CASA-1000 project are poised to create a brighter future for the nation.
