The Environment Protection Department in Lahore takes strict action by sealing two factories for violating smog regulations, emphasizing public health and environmental quality.

The Environment Protection Department (EPD) in Lahore took decisive action on Sunday by sealing two factories on Multan Road for breaching smog regulations. The identified factories, Maria B Ocean Dyeing and Friends Thermopore, were closed down due to their failure to control smoke emissions, exacerbating the city's smog issue.

EPD Lahore's Assistant Director Ali Ijaz, leading the Anti-Smog Squads, conducted thorough inspections along Multan Road, targeting factories that were not adhering to environmental standards. These measures align with the directives from the Judicial Water and Environment Commission and the Director-General of the Environmental Protection Department Punjab, underscoring the government's dedication to tackling the health risks associated with air pollution.

Assistant Director Ali Ijaz emphasized that factory owners found to be polluting the environment will face legal consequences as the authorities prioritize safeguarding public health. This crackdown forms part of a broader strategy to combat Lahore's annual smog crisis, which frequently ranks the city among the most polluted globally.

The government's unwavering stance on environmental violations includes rigorous inspections and monitoring of industrial units previously deemed compliant, signaling a zero-tolerance approach towards non-compliance.

The closure of the two factories in Lahore underscores the authorities' commitment to curbing air pollution and safeguarding public health. By enforcing stringent measures against violators, the EPD aims to mitigate the detrimental effects of smog and improve the overall environmental quality in the region.
