Director General of PHA, Muhammad Tahir Wattoo, announces a significant increase in Lahore's annual plantation target to combat air pollution and heatwaves. The initiative aims to plant millions of trees to create a healthier and more sustainable environment.

In a bid to tackle the worsening air quality and heatwave challenges in Lahore, the Director General of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Muhammad Tahir Wattoo, has announced a significant increase in the city's annual plantation target. The goal has been raised from 1 million to 5 million plants, with a focus on enhancing air quality and increasing oxygen levels within a year.

Furthermore, the PHA has set an even more ambitious target for the upcoming year, aiming to plant a total of 20.5 million plants, with a substantial portion of 10.5 million earmarked for Lahore alone. To support this initiative, investments are being made in nurseries to boost plant production.

Highlighting the critical need to expand tree cover, Wattoo emphasized the necessity of increasing it by 20% to help combat rising temperatures. He underscored the urgency of addressing global warming and reiterated the PHA's commitment to extensive tree planting efforts in major cities like Lahore.
