Government and Society Unite Against School Bullying

Recent reports of bullying incidents in schools have prompted central government departments to implement strict measures to protect minors. While these actions are a step in the right direction, more needs to be done to ensure the safety and well-being of children at school.

The Supreme People’s Court has issued rulings emphasizing the seriousness of bullying, directing courts to treat it as an offense in cases involving children. Schools are urged to intervene promptly to eliminate bullying on their premises.

The Ministry of Education has mandated educational institutions to address campus violence, including bullying. Schools must establish special commissions to identify and punish bullies, set up hotlines and complaint boxes for reporting incidents, install CCTV cameras for monitoring, and conduct discussions and lectures to discourage bullying.

Recent incidents, such as a father protesting bullying in Shaanxi province and a student in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region being attacked, have highlighted the need for these measures. A court ruling in Henan province further emphasized the severity of bullying.

The public's increasing intolerance towards bullying reflects a growing awareness of human rights protection, especially for minors. Bullying not only impacts physical health but also mental well-being, underscoring the importance of addressing this issue.

While government actions are crucial, societal involvement is key in fighting bullying.
