Hyderabad faced rainfall with power outages and infrastructure challenges. City officials responded promptly to manage the aftermath and ensure public safety.
Hyderabad witnessed light to moderate rainfall on Sunday following a spell of downpour that began late Saturday night. The rain, accompanied by strong winds, provided relief from the high temperatures, creating pleasant weather. However, the city also faced widespread power outages, with complaints of prolonged disruptions reported from various areas.
Early in the morning, three towers of 11,000 KV collapsed in Jamshoro district due to gusty winds, leading to the suspension of electricity supply in parts of Kotri town. The Mayor of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had to cancel his visit to Larkana for a public meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party due to the inclement weather.
City officials, including the Mayor, Commissioner Ahsan Qureshi, Deputy Commissioner Tariq Qureshi, and Managing Director of Water and Sanitation Agency Zeeshan Malik, oversaw efforts to pump out rainwater and clean the roads to mitigate the impact of the rainfall and ensure public safety.
The recent rainfall in Hyderabad, while bringing relief from the heat, also highlighted the city's vulnerability to power outages and infrastructure challenges during adverse weather conditions. The prompt response of city officials in managing the aftermath of the rain underscores the importance of preparedness and coordination in dealing with such natural events.
