The provincial government in Multan division launches a project to enhance rural cleanliness and cracks down on power theft, demonstrating a proactive approach towards improving living conditions and energy distribution.

The provincial government in Multan division has launched a pioneering project aimed at enhancing cleanliness in rural areas. Commissioner Maryam Khan recently visited Peerawala Hamid Pur Kinora union council to oversee the progress of the 'Ab Gaoon Chamkain Ga' project. This initiative, managed by the local government department, focuses on improving sewerage systems and cleanliness standards in rural regions. The project has successfully deployed cleanliness staff and small machinery at the Union Council level to ensure a cleaner environment for residents.

Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Qadeer highlighted the financial sustainability of the cleanliness operations through the establishment of committees at the Union Council level. Director Local Government Zahoor Hussain shared that each union council now benefits from three sanitary workers and one loader rickshaw to support ongoing cleanliness efforts.

Commissioner Maryam Khan and DC Rizwan Qadeer organized an awareness walk to appreciate the dedication of sanitary workers. Cash prizes were awarded to recognize exceptional performance, and Commissioner Maryam Khan planted a sapling in Peerewala Union Council as a symbol of hope for the nation's progress and prosperity.

On a separate note, a significant crackdown on power theft in South Punjab resulted in the arrest of 119 individuals in a single day for electricity theft. Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) imposed fines exceeding Rs 7.4 million on the offenders, with close to Rs one million already recovered. Legal actions have been taken against 84 power pilferers across various police stations to curb this illegal activity.

The government's commitment to improving cleanliness standards in rural areas and cracking down on power theft demonstrates a proactive approach towards enhancing living conditions and ensuring fair energy distribution. These initiatives not only promote a healthier environment but also contribute to a more sustainable and law-abiding society.
