The 'Voice for the Voiceless' initiative led by IGP Islamabad aims to provide comprehensive care for abandoned and retired animals through the establishment of Police Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) in collaboration with animal welfare organizations.

The 'Voice for the Voiceless' initiative has been introduced by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, to cater to abandoned, injured, and sick animals. An MOU has been signed between Islamabad Police DIG Headquarters Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer and Zulfishan Anushay from JFK Animal Rescue and Shelter Organization to establish Police Animal Welfare Services (PAWS). The primary goal of this project is to ensure the well-being of homeless, retired, and non-serviceable animals, irrespective of their ownership.

PAWS will encompass the establishment of a shelter home, a pet cafe, and a pet hotel for these animals. Trained caretakers will be entrusted with providing top-notch care to these animals. The facility will be constructed in compliance with modern and international standards. Furthermore, a K-9 mission will be launched for the retired K-9 unit dogs of Islamabad Police, who will be handed over to citizens for their continued care. Collaboration with other animal welfare organizations will be sought as needed.

IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi highlighted that this initiative acts as a voice for the voiceless, advocating for love and compassion towards animals as essential elements of the environment, nature, and human existence. He underscored the significance of ensuring comprehensive care for animals that retire after their service, rather than resorting to euthanasia.

The launch of the PAWS initiative in Islamabad marks a significant step towards animal welfare and protection. By providing a safe haven and proper care for abandoned and retired animals, this project not only showcases compassion but also sets a positive example for society. It is a reminder of our responsibility to treat all living beings with kindness and respect, emphasizing the importance of coexisting harmoniously with our animal companions.
