K-Electric urges Sindh Government to settle overdue bills

K-Electric, the primary power utility in Karachi, has recently reached out to the Sindh Government regarding a pressing issue related to overdue electricity bills. The communication, addressed to the Finance and Energy Secretary as well as the Mayor of Karachi, brings to light the alarming situation of outstanding payments dating back to January, totaling a staggering amount of Rs. 9.2 billion.

Of this outstanding balance, a significant portion is attributed to the Water and Sewerage Board, accounting for Rs. 5 billion, while the Sindh government's dues stand at Rs. 9 billion and 20 crores. K-Electric has emphasized the adverse effects of this substantial debt on its operational capabilities, particularly in conducting essential network repairs, further compounded by financial constraints resulting from the unpaid bills.

The urgency of the matter is underscored in the communication, stressing the critical need for a resolution as K-Electric grapples with mounting financial pressure due to the imperative maintenance requirements of its infrastructure.
