The tradition of exchanging sweets between Pakistan Rangers and India's BSF on religious and national festivals has been halted due to strained relations and lack of diplomatic engagement, reflecting ongoing tensions between the two nations.

Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, a longstanding tradition of exchanging sweets and well wishes between the border forces of the two countries on religious and national festivals has been halted. The Pakistan Rangers and India's Border Security Force (BSF) did not partake in this symbolic gesture on Eidul Fitr, marking a departure from the past practice.

This tradition, which had been observed for many years, was skipped on both Eidul Fitr and the Hindu festival of Holi. The strained relations between the two nations, exacerbated by India's revocation of the special status of occupied Kashmir in August 2019, have led to the suspension of this goodwill exchange.

Despite efforts to maintain cordial relations through the exchange of sweets and gifts during previous caretaker governments, the current administration has put a halt to this practice. The suspension of this tradition reflects the ongoing tensions and lack of diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and India.
