Pakistan sends its eighth tranche of humanitarian aid to Gaza, supporting Palestine's UN membership and calling for de-escalation and ceasefire in the region. The aid shipment includes winterized tents, blankets, medicines, and food supplies.

Pakistan continues its support for Gaza by sending its eighth tranche of humanitarian aid through sea. The aid, weighing 400 tonnes, includes winterized tents, tarpaulins, blankets, medicines, and food supplies. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that the shipment will be received by the Pakistani Ambassador to Egypt at Port Said and then handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent for distribution in Gaza.

Since the conflict erupted in Palestine on October 7, 2023, Pakistan has been vocal against Israeli atrocities and has consistently provided aid. Expressing disappointment over the US veto on a draft resolution for Palestine's full UN membership, Pakistan emphasized the need for Palestine's admission to the UN to rectify historical injustices and affirm Palestinians' right to self-determination.

The recent UNSC resolution seeking Palestine's full membership received 12 votes in favor, with the US vetoing it and Switzerland and the UK abstaining. The resolution required at least nine favorable votes and no vetoes from the five permanent UNSC members. Pakistan reiterated its support for Palestine during discussions at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit in Gambia, focusing on proposals related to Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamophobia.

During a meeting between Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Saudi counterpart, both officials called for de-escalation, an immediate ceasefire, and the lifting of the siege in Gaza. The Foreign Office spokesperson highlighted the Israeli occupation authorities as the main obstacle to implementing the ceasefire.
