Petrol pump owners in Peshawar demand government action to tackle the issue of smuggled Iranian oil being sold at unauthorized stations. The KPPD&CA raises serious concerns and warns of a potential strike if demands are not met promptly.

Petrol pump owners in Peshawar are on the brink of a strike as they demand urgent action from the government to tackle the problem of smuggled Iranian oil and diesel being sold at unauthorized stations. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Petroleum Dealers and Carriage Association (KPPD&CA) has raised serious concerns regarding the prevalence of these unauthorized stations and the imposition of fines on legitimate petrol businesses in the province.

The KPPD&CA has pointed out the influx of Iranian smuggled petrol in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which is being brought into the province under the guise of legitimate trade but is not intended for local consumption. They are calling for a thorough investigation into the reasons behind the entry of this illicit product into the province and are urging the government to halt the unauthorized collection of samples at petrol pumps.

If the government fails to address their demands promptly, the association has warned of a potential province-wide strike. At a recent emergency meeting chaired by Abdul Majid Khan, with Fuad Ishaq, President of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in attendance, the urgent need for immediate action to combat the sale of smuggled petrol and the harassment faced by petrol pump owners was emphasized.

The looming threat of a strike by petrol pump owners in Peshawar underscores the gravity of the situation regarding the sale of smuggled Iranian oil and diesel at unauthorized stations. The government must act swiftly to address these concerns and ensure a fair and lawful environment for all petrol businesses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
