PM Shehbaz Sharif Boosts Anti-Electricity Theft Measures

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a significant step towards curbing electricity theft in Pakistan by instructing the Power Division to permanently assign a deputy director-level officer from the FIA to the electric supply companies. This decision follows the successful efforts of the Power Division, which managed to save a substantial amount of Rs57 billion through a rigorous campaign against electricity theft that began in September 2023.

The move to have an FIA officer embedded within the electric supply companies aims to enhance surveillance and enforcement against those involved in illegal electricity connections and theft. This strategic decision is expected to further strengthen the ongoing efforts to ensure fair distribution of electricity and combat the financial losses incurred due to theft.
