In a recent development, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took charge of addressing the issue of electricity theft in the province. A special meeting was convened to review the progress made in combating this illegal activity. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of compiling a comprehensive report on electricity theft, backed by accurate data, to effectively tackle the problem.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Punjab provided an update on the ongoing crackdown against electricity thieves. They highlighted the significant involvement of 660 police officers in each district to support the campaign, demonstrating the government's commitment to eradicating this menace.

Moreover, a detailed report on the actions taken against electricity theft by five distribution companies, including LESCO, was presented. The presence of Senator Pervaiz Rashid and other key officials underscored the seriousness with which the issue is being addressed at the highest levels of government.

On a positive note, the Punjab Government approved the 'Himat Card' project aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities. In the first phase, thirty thousand special persons will receive a monthly stipend of 7,500 rupees for three years. The second phase of the project will focus on providing these individuals with essential assistive devices such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, and Braille materials, enhancing their quality of life and promoting inclusivity.
