In Bahawalnagar, a recent incident has brought to light the misconduct of four policemen, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Madrasa police station, Rizwan Abbas, and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Naeem. They have been arrested on charges of negligence of duty and illegal detention of citizens, as per the filed First Information Report (FIR). The District Police Officer (DPO) wasted no time in suspending the SHO and other involved officers, initiating departmental proceedings to address the serious allegations. The newly appointed SHO, Saifullah Hanif, has also been implicated in the FIR, underscoring the urgency of accountability.

The incident revolves around a raid conducted by the Madrasa police station officers at the residence of Muhammad Anwar Jat in Chak Sarkari on April 8. During the raid, Anwar Jat and his sons, Muhammad Khalil and Muhammad Idris, were reportedly detained and subjected to mistreatment. A viral video showing SHO Rizwan Abbas holding police officers hostage prompted swift action from DPO Naseebullah Khan, resulting in the immediate suspension of the accused officers and the initiation of disciplinary measures.
