Punjab Police in Lahore and throughout the province intensify operations against drug trafficking, resulting in numerous arrests and seizures of illicit substances. The focus is on disrupting the drug supply chain and creating a safer environment.

In a significant move to combat the rampant issue of drug trafficking, Punjab Police in Lahore and throughout the province have launched a series of intensive operations targeting drug dealers. On a single day, the police conducted 201 raids, resulting in the arrest of 59 suspects and the registration of 56 cases related to drug trafficking. The seized illegal substances included 24 kilograms of charas, 720 grams of ice (methamphetamine), and 990 liters of liquor.

Since February 26, Punjab Police has been actively engaged in anti-narcotics operations, conducting a staggering total of 31,523 raids across the province. This relentless effort has led to the arrest of 15,368 individuals involved in drug trafficking, with 14,729 cases filed against them. The police have confiscated substantial quantities of illicit substances, such as over 8,876 kilograms of charas, 44 kilograms of ice, 155 kilograms of heroin, 267 kilograms of opium, and 1,666,140 liters of liquor.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed law enforcement agencies to intensify their crackdown on online drug sales. Emphasizing the importance of intelligence-based operations, he has urged Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to personally supervise these efforts. The focus remains on disrupting the drug supply chain by apprehending smugglers, dealers, and suppliers, with a specific emphasis on conducting targeted operations around educational institutions and hostels.

The proactive measures taken by Punjab Police against drug trafficking underscore the commitment of law enforcement authorities to safeguard communities from the harmful effects of narcotics. By targeting both physical and online drug networks, the police are striving to create a safer environment for all residents. Such operations not only aim to curb the supply of illicit substances but also serve as a deterrent to those engaged in drug-related activities, ultimately contributing to a more secure and drug-free society.
