Sindh Police officers undergo specialized training to combat human trafficking, focusing on evidence collection and victim-centric approaches. The program, supported by SSDO, SHRC, and the US Embassy, aims to enhance fairness and justice within the legal system in Sindh.

The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) recently conducted a 2-day specialized course in Karachi aimed at enhancing fairness and justice within the legal system in Sindh. The course focused on the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act 2018. Approximately 400 officers from Sindh Police, including investigation officers, station house officers, and legal officers, actively participated in advocacy sessions dedicated to combating trafficking in persons and bonded labor.

The training sessions took place at various Police Training Centers across Sindh, including Saeedabad, Karachi, Hyderabad, Shahdadpur, and Larkana. These sessions, held in collaboration with SSDO and SHRC and supported by the US Embassy, concentrated on crucial aspects such as evidence collection, case file preparation, and recognizing indicators of human trafficking.

Participants were meticulously guided on the process of gathering and organizing evidence to ensure its admissibility and relevance in legal proceedings. They were also equipped with skills to effectively identify and address trafficking situations. The training covered policies and standard operating procedures related to Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM), offering a comprehensive understanding of investigative protocols and guidelines.

The sessions highlighted best practices for compiling case files that maintain the integrity of the investigative process. Through interactive discussions and role plays, participants enhanced their investigative techniques, risk assessment skills, and understanding of victim-centric approaches. Certificates of participation were presented to all attendees, recognizing their dedication to combating trafficking and smuggling.

The program concluded with expressions of gratitude to all participants, trainers, and organizers for their significant contributions to upholding human rights and dignity for all.
