The Punjab Police intensifies efforts against drug trafficking, conducting thousands of raids, resulting in arrests and seizures. Collaborative actions aim to create a drug-free society.

Over the past month, the Punjab Police have been actively conducting raids to combat the illegal drug trade as part of the 'Drug-Free Punjab' initiative. A total of 8,576 raids were carried out on suspected drug hideouts, resulting in the registration of 3,860 cases against individuals involved in drug trafficking. During these operations, 3,953 suspects were arrested, and a substantial amount of illicit substances, including 1,982 kilograms of charas, 44 kilograms of heroin, 18 kilograms of Ice (crystal meth), and 46,578 litres of liquor, were seized. Additionally, 76 individuals struggling with drug addiction were provided with rehabilitation support.

Throughout the year, the Punjab Police intensified their efforts against drug trafficking, conducting a total of 48,795 raids across the province. This extensive crackdown led to the filing of 25,238 cases against drug offenders, the arrest of 25,349 suspects, and the seizure of significant quantities of illegal substances, such as 14,221 kilograms of charas, over 131 kilograms of Ice, 2,498 kilograms of heroin, and 337,059 litres of liquor. Furthermore, 611 drug addicts received assistance through admission to rehabilitation centers.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has issued directives to enhance intelligence-based operations targeting the drug trade in Punjab. Emphasizing the importance of holding all individuals involved in drug smuggling and distribution accountable, the IGP stressed the need for strict punishments. Collaborative efforts with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and other relevant institutions are being emphasized to combat all forms of illicit substances effectively.

The recent crackdown on drug trafficking in Punjab reflects the Punjab Police's commitment to creating a drug-free society. By intensifying their efforts and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, significant progress has been made in curbing the illegal drug trade. The focus on rehabilitation for drug addicts also highlights the importance of addressing the root causes of drug abuse.
