Quaid-i-Azam University alumni advocate for 'Flagship Institution' status, highlighting initiatives and achievements to elevate the university's standing.
Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) alumni have come together to push for the institution to be recognized as a 'Flagship Institution' by the Federal government. This call comes following the university's outstanding performance in the recent QS World University Ranking. The alumni are urging for financial support to address the annual deficit of over 500 million rupees, aiming to further elevate QAU's standing on regional and international platforms.
During a meeting of the Core Committee of QAU Alumni Association Founders Group, chaired by Dr. Abdul Basit and attended by senior Quaidians, various initiatives were discussed. These include the establishment of the Quaidians Commoners academy under the guidance of Mr. Khalid Masood, former Principal Secretary to the President of Pakistan. Additionally, plans were made to enhance social welfare projects such as the Blood Donors Forum Pakistan, mentorship and scholarship programs, and the installation of a new water filtration system at QAU hostels.
The alumni also applauded Vice Chancellor QAU, faculty, employees, and students for their achievements in the QS subject ranking 2024. They further called for the establishment of a Psychological Counselling Centre on campus to provide continuous support to students, expressing their commitment to assisting in this endeavor.
