The members of the treasury benches in the Upper House of the Parliament called for unity among Opposition members to tackle national challenges with consensus. The Senate session began with discussions on the President's address to the joint session of the Parliament on April 18th and a motion of thanks to the President. The meeting commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran emphasizing unity and discouraging division within the religion.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, faced criticism for late submission of the President's address. Senator Sherry Rehman of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) emphasized the importance of unity for the national cause and highlighted her party's commitment to upholding the honor of the state.

Senator Rehman urged members to start the new parliamentary year without conflicts and bitterness, emphasizing the need for respect and dialogue in the Parliament. Other senators, including Senator Khalil Tahir Sandhu of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Barrister Syed Ali Zafar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), also shared their views on minority representation and the importance of constructive debate.

Barrister Zafar stressed the significance of criticism with responsibility and highlighted the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for a plural democracy based on tolerance and good governance. He called for addressing issues like poverty, extremism, and illiteracy through education.

The session also welcomed a group of Mehergarh Youth Leadership members, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in parliamentary proceedings. The discussions underscored the need for unity, respect, and constructive dialogue to address national challenges effectively.
