Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and UNICEF Country head Abdullah A Fadil have joined forces to launch a Child Protection program in Sindh. The program aims to strengthen policies and legislation concerning child protection through evidence-based strategies. This collaboration was formalized during a meeting at the CM House, attended by key officials from various departments.

The Child Protection program will concentrate on several key areas, including the formulation of child protection policies, prevention of child marriage, online safety for children, and the reinforcement of community-based protection mechanisms. Additionally, the initiative will strive to enhance services for children and adolescents, bolster the child protection workforce, and offer mental health support where needed.

UNICEF's support will extend to the health department, focusing on improving immunization services, nutrition programs, and early childhood development initiatives. A significant commitment of $300,000 has been made by UNICEF to establish a responsive system. The Chief Minister has directed the Health Department to fulfill the necessary requirements for the allocation of these funds.

Moreover, the government's primary objective remains the eradication of Polio, with UNICEF and other partners providing continuous support to this cause. Collaboration with UNICEF also encompasses educational endeavors, including efforts to address the issue of out-of-school children and enhance teacher training programs.

UNICEF's involvement further extends to water, sanitation, and hygiene projects, offering technical assistance for the development of climate-resilient infrastructure and sustainable environmental practices. The organization's role in enhancing monitoring systems and combating environmental degradation is crucial for the overall well-being of the region.

The partnership between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and UNICEF signifies a significant step towards ensuring the protection and well-being of children in Sindh. Through collaborative efforts in various sectors, including health, education, and environmental sustainability, the initiative aims to create a safer and healthier environment for the youth of the region.
