The Sindh Education Department extends summer vacation to July 31 based on weather forecast. Punjab schools to close early to combat rising temperatures. Educational authorities prioritize student well-being during heatwave.

The Sindh Education Department has officially announced that summer vacations for both public and private schools in the province will be observed from June 1 to July 31. This decision was made following a directive from the education department's Steering Committee. Initially, there was a proposal to start the summer break earlier to align with Punjab's schedule. However, the Meteorological Department's forecast for Karachi indicated that a heatwave in May was unlikely. Instead, the Meteorological Department has predicted that many parts of Pakistan will face prolonged hot and dry weather conditions. The central and southern regions, in particular, are expected to experience extreme temperatures, exacerbating the ongoing heatwave.

In Sindh and Punjab, temperatures are forecasted to rise by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal levels from May 21 to 23, with a further increase to 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal from May 23 to 27. In response to these weather predictions, the Punjab School Education Department has revised the summer vacation schedule for all public and private schools in the province. According to the latest announcement, schools in Punjab, including those in Lahore, will be closed starting from May 25.

As the summer heat intensifies across Pakistan, educational authorities in Sindh and Punjab have taken proactive measures to ensure the well-being of students by adjusting the summer vacation dates. By aligning the school break with the expected weather conditions, officials aim to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both students and staff during the hot summer months.
