Sindh Home Minister announces Rs 1 billion allocation for Karachi Safe City Project to enhance security measures with 12,000 cameras installation for crime prevention.

The Sindh Home Minister, Zia ul Hassan Lanjar, recently announced a significant step towards improving safety and reducing crime in Karachi. The Sindh government has allocated Rs 1 billion for the initial phase of the Karachi Safe City Project. This project aims to enhance safety measures in the city and create a more secure environment for its residents.

During a meeting at the DIG CTD office, Minister Lanjar emphasized the urgency of completing the project within a year. To expedite the process, the government has already transferred Rs 3 billion to the project account. The primary goals of the Safe City Project include crime prevention and the apprehension of criminals, with plans to extend the project to other cities in the province once successfully implemented in Karachi.

Asif Aijaz Sheikh, the Director General of the Safe City Project, provided insights into the project's progress and priorities. The project will boast Pakistan's largest screen and data center, with approximately 12,000 cameras set to be strategically installed across Karachi. An additional 2,000 cameras will be upgraded, and there are plans to install 10,000 more cameras interconnected via fiber optic cables throughout the city.

The Karachi Safe City Project represents a crucial initiative by the Sindh government to transform Karachi into a peaceful and secure city.
