Recent heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have caused 63 fatalities, 78 injuries, and extensive property damage. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority is actively providing relief and financial assistance to the affected districts.
Recent heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have led to a tragic loss of lives and property, as reported by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The latest figures reveal that 63 people have lost their lives, while 78 others have sustained injuries due to the inclement weather conditions.
The impact of the heavy rains has been widespread, with a total of 3,202 houses suffering damage, including 477 that were completely destroyed. The affected districts, such as Khyber, Dir Upper and Lower, Chitral Upper, Swat, Bajaur, and others, have witnessed various life and financial accidents.
In response to the crisis, the Chief Minister of KP has directed PDMA to release Rs 110 million for financial assistance and relief activities in the affected districts. Additionally, an amount of 90 million rupees has been allocated for relief efforts in the tribal districts.
PDMA has been actively providing support to the affected areas by distributing relief materials, including tents, mats, kitchen sets, blankets, and solar lamps. The emergency operation center is fully operational, and PDMA has urged the district administrations to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as the rains are expected to continue until April 21.
Efforts are ongoing to assist the affected communities, and individuals are encouraged to report any emergencies to the designated helpline number 1700. Despite the challenges posed by the adverse weather conditions, the authorities are committed to providing aid and support to those in need.
