Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has forecasted above-average rainfall for this year's monsoon season across various regions of Pakistan. He suggests that a more precise forecast will be available closer to the expected rainfall dates. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to receive average rainfall, while southern Sindh, including Karachi, may experience heavy downpours.

The monsoon rains are expected to arrive after June 19 in specific areas, with no rain predicted in the plains during Eid-ul-Adha, which begins on June 17. Despite the recent hot and humid conditions, Karachi's temperatures are projected to remain normal, hovering around 35-36°C in June. Similarly, Sindh is also expected to have typical temperatures this month.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts hot and dry weather for most parts of Sindh until Thursday, with temperatures ranging from a low of 28°C to a high of 37°C. Following a period of intense heat, Karachi residents experienced relief on June 7 as light drizzles were reported in various areas of the city, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, University Road, and Gulistan-e-Johar. Additional areas such as Surjani Town, Scheme 33, Hawksbay, Baldia Town, Maripur, and Nazimabad also witnessed light showers on Friday evening.

As Pakistan prepares for the upcoming monsoon season, it is crucial for residents to stay informed about the weather forecasts provided by experts like Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz. Being aware of the expected rainfall patterns can help individuals and communities make necessary preparations to mitigate any potential risks associated with heavy downpours.
