Amidst a severe heatwave sweeping through Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the Mirpur Divisional Teaching Hospital has taken proactive measures to address heat-related emergencies promptly. Dr. Sardar Amar Aziz Khan, the Medical Superintendent of the Mirpur District Headquarters (DHQ) Teaching Hospital, has emphasized the importance of preventive actions to combat heat-related illnesses. He has advised individuals to limit sun exposure and protect themselves by covering their heads when outdoors during extreme heat conditions.

Dr. Khan has specifically highlighted the risks associated with heatstroke, the most severe form of heat-related injury. Heatstroke can lead to organ damage and even prove fatal if not treated promptly. However, Dr. Khan has assured the public that the hospital is fully equipped to manage cases of heatstroke and sunstroke. Although there have been no reported cases so far, the hospital's Accident and Emergency Wing staff are prepared with necessary medications and arrangements in place.
