Lahore Deputy Commissioner's Swift Response to Rainstorm Tragedy

On Monday, Lahore experienced a severe rainstorm accompanied by strong winds, leading to a tree falling near Liberty Roundabout. This incident resulted in injuries to two motorcyclists who were trapped under the fallen tree. Fortunately, both individuals were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and are currently in stable condition.

The Lahore Deputy Commissioner acted promptly by instructing the hospital's medical superintendent to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured. Rescue operations were also accelerated under the supervision of the assistant commissioner to ensure swift response to the situation.

Authorities issued a public warning to avoid contact with electrical wires and poles during such weather conditions and advised against walking near walls and trees to prevent accidents.

The storm severely disrupted the power distribution system of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), causing 322 feeders to trip. This led to widespread power outages in Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Okara, and Sheikhupura, affecting a total of 227 feeders in Lahore and 95 in the surrounding regions.

Despite the inconvenience caused by the power outages, the rainstorm brought relief from the intense heat, creating a pleasant weather environment across Lahore and various parts of Punjab, much to the relief of the residents.

The recent rainstorm in Lahore not only caused disruptions and injuries but also brought relief from the scorching heat. It serves as a reminder of the importance of staying safe during severe weather conditions and highlights the need for preparedness and quick response to mitigate any potential risks.
