The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced plans to set up a dedicated secretariat for the southern districts of the province. This new secretariat will also have jurisdiction over districts in the Kohat, Bannu, and DI Khan divisions. The initiative is being spearheaded by Abid Majeed, the Additional Chief Secretary Interior (ACS South), who has been tasked with overseeing the establishment of the Southern District Secretariat.

ACS South's primary role is to develop comprehensive proposals for the functioning of the new secretariat. These proposals will be carefully crafted after a detailed assessment of the financial and administrative requirements involved. Additionally, ACS South will engage in consultations with various stakeholders to ensure that the proposed structure meets the needs of the region. Regular updates on the progress of this project will be provided to the Chief Minister by ACS South.
