Muhammad Asim Javed, Director-General of Punjab Food Authority, leads proactive measures to ensure food safety standards in Punjab. With increased inspections and awareness campaigns, PFA aims to promote hygiene and safeguard public health.

The Director-General of the Punjab Food Authority, Muhammad Asim Javed, has highlighted the proactive measures being taken to uphold food safety standards across the province. With 150 dedicated teams operating seven days a week, the PFA is ensuring thorough inspections of food items in all Tehsils and districts of Punjab. Any substandard products are swiftly addressed in accordance with the Authority Act.

Specifically in Lahore, 18 food safety teams have led to a significant 90% increase in inspections compared to the previous year, resulting in fines for violators. This intensified effort has seen a rise in monthly fines from 50 million to 90 million, contributing to a notable decrease in the sale of defective items.

To further enhance food safety practices, the PFA is actively engaging in awareness campaigns throughout the province. Collaborating with opinion leaders, social and electronic media, as well as religious figures, the authority aims to educate the public on the importance of adhering to hygiene standards.

In addition to inspections, training sessions are being conducted at various food establishments, including hotels and restaurants, to ensure strict compliance with hygiene protocols. These initiatives reflect the PFA's commitment to safeguarding public health and promoting a culture of food safety in Punjab.
