Acting President and Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani recently visited the mausoleum of Pakistan's founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in Karachi. During his visit, Gilani honored Jinnah by laying a wreath, offering prayers, and sharing his thoughts in the Visitors’ Book. He highlighted the crucial role Jinnah played in the creation of Pakistan and urged the youth to understand and appreciate his leadership.

Accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Gilani also mentioned his family's connection to Jinnah, revealing that his father had been an associate of the Quaid. He recounted a significant historical event where Jinnah entrusted his father to represent him in Multan, showcasing the deep trust Jinnah had in his family.

Expressing optimism in Pakistan's youth, Gilani emphasized their potential as future leaders, citing Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as an example. Despite his party not being in power, Gilani pledged full support to the government in addressing the nation's challenges.

When discussing dialogue with the opposition, Gilani stressed the importance of communication for effective problem-solving. He criticized past governments for neglecting dialogue and commended the late Benazir Bhutto for her dedication to negotiation and upholding the rule of law. Gilani also highlighted the significance of the Charter of Democracy signed between Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif to strengthen democratic principles.

Responding to queries about Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Gilani referred to him as an 'old friend' and expressed hope for future dialogue. He emphasized the necessity of peaceful discussions as the way forward for resolving issues.
